These paths to AMSOIL are often spurred by a singular goal – how to make a vehicle investment last as long as possible. This principal doesn’t only apply to new vehicles fresh off the lot, either. Those purchasing used vehicles with higher miles are looking to achieve the same objective: adding many more miles to the odometer.
Another way of discovering AMSOIL is by growing up in the Midwest and hitting the racing circuit. This was the case for AMSOIL Product Development Engineer Grady Tank, who joined the AMSOIL team in April 2024. Tank had grown up in rural Wisconsin and regularly saw AMSOIL being used in racing applications on the track. A common misconception in these racing environments is that AMSOIL only offers products for racing or powersports applications. Tank had a similar take and hadn’t yet connected how broad the product line was for vehicles of all kinds. His career path to AMSOIL would soon change that.
Tank owns a 2014 Subaru* Outback* his father purchased new off the lot. It faced an hour and a half commute each day for his dad’s work, and underwent routine oil changes using the originally installed Mobil 1* brand. Aiming to keep the vehicle in service for years to come, Tank and his father did oil changes themselves at regular 5,000-mile intervals and kept up on maintenance.
By the time Tank took ownership of the vehicle from his father around 2020, it was well-maintained but facing oil consumption issues. In his travels to the twin cities area to visit his parents once or twice a month, Tank needed to top off with a quarter quart of oil every 300 miles or so. Growing up, Tank was taught to stick to the same oil and not mix or change brands. He stuck to that course until hitting 150,000 miles on the odometer when he switched to a high-mileage version of the previous brand.
