AMSOIL’s Small Engine Oil Keeps the Money in Your Pockets
I was around at the debut of these small engine oils which was back in 2002 with the SAE-30. Since then I’d say it’s been a success. I had no idea they would have become one of our best sellers here in Omaha. Since there has been a whole list of viscosities added.
From the oldest mower (2-stroke and 4-stroke), latest expensive zero turn mower, generators and gas or diesel skid steers we stock the oil for each. 10W-30 (SAE-30), 10W-40, 5W-30, and 15w-50. We also have the appropriate 2-cycle oils (Saber Pro and injector oil), Hydrostatic oil, UTD oils and purpose built fuel additives for these.
Engine dependability is vital to running a profitable business, yet most small-engine oils we’ve tested are nothing more than re-labeled automotive oils, which are formulated with fuel economy in mind, not durability. That won’t cut it. Compared to liquid-cooled automotive engines, small engines run hotter; operate under constant load; generate more oil-damaging contaminants; suffer from neglected maintenance; and are exposed to dirt, rain, snow and other extremes. Simply put, they’re far tougher on oil that most people think.
Using the wrong oil in your equipment over time will effect its efficiency. We have plenty of customers who switch back to AMSOIL and immediately notice the improved performance and even using less fuel for the same acreage.
What is the difference in small engine oil vs. your car products at the auto parts store?
A small engine oil is blended with additives adjusted for engines which hold less oil – smaller sumps, run hotter (air cooled), often have different types of oil pumps, have different cam wear issues. Therefor the zinc chemistry not found in car engine oils forms a durable barrier that protects against metal-to-metal contact.
They also are prone to more deposits due to the oil consumption nature. Something even our OEM competitors fail to prevent.
Here’s a photo from a previous brochure which I was at the Superior, WI HQ to witness myself. These were taken after hours of bench runs which the sledged up one was using Honda’s HP4 brand.
Each oil has it’s own specifications. Open and print this product data sheet for the latest. This link is always updated to reflect the latest on this particular line.
Download PDFProduct DatasheetWe get a lot of calls wondering which one to use so this should answer your questions before you come out.
The other question we commonly get is can I use the 10W-30 where my machine calls for SAE-30??
The short answer is YES!
You see it’s actually built as a SAE-30 in the lab but a true synthetic is my nature multi-viscosity. So you get a product which doesn’t have additional additives taking away from the base stock. SAE-30’s were required for engines which use less than a quart so this is designed for just that!!
The latest is the 15W-50 for Briggs and Stratton Vanguard engine line as well as a few from Kawasaki’s power equipment line. We also have 5W-30 which is common for generators and equipment used in winter and a 10W-40 which I’m starting to sell more for older gear and a few new zero turns.
Don’t forget our Quickshot to keep your fuel system in check. It will save you a trip to the engine repair shop.
These are all sold in quarts and the popular 10W-30 is also available in gallons. Drums are also available.
